- RESEARCH INTERESTS
- Professor Richard Silberstein has had a long-standing interest in cognitive neuroscience and is the inventor of Steady State Topography (SST) the neuro-imaging technology used in clinical and basic research to investigate relationship between brain electrical activity and cognitive and emotional processes such as working memory, long-term memory, mental imagery, anxiety and mood as well as disordered brain states such as schizophrenia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Over the last 10 years and more recently in his capacity as CEO of Neuro-Insight Pty Ltd, Richard has directed SST studies exploring the cognitive and emotional impact of advertising, especially the relationship between long-term memory encoding during advertising and changes in consumer brand preference.
- PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Richard Silberstein holds an honours degree from Monash University majoring in Physics and was awarded a PhD in the field of neuroscience from the University of Melbourne. He was Founding Director of the Brain Sciences Institute and previously Chairman of the Department of Physics at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne Australia.
Richard is the founder and CEO of Neuro-Insight, an Australian company offering SST based neuromarketing services to global clients such as Nestle, GSK, General Motors, Allianz. Richard has been an invited speaker on the topic of neuromarketing at numerous conferences including, Promax Conference (Los Angeles), Cannes Advertising Festival (2005 and 2006), Neuroeconomics 2008, Neuromarketing 2008 and the Creative Leadership Summit (2007 and 2008).

- Richard Silberstein has contributed numerous publications in the field of cognitive neuroscience in journals such as Archives of Neurology , NeuroImage , Neuroreport , Brain Topography , EEG and Clinical Neurophysiology , and International Journal of Psychophysiology as well as book chapters, conference proceedings and invited lectures. He has also contributed neuromarketing publications in the Journal of Advertising Research and the International Journal of Advertising .
